Just Write the Thing

Again, Sheridan, an excellent, useful and practical post. Thank you ... awaiting the short lesson tomorrow.

You are right about people being at a disadvantage who haven't sold before. I do have that experience and feel very confident when I go into sales situations because I can feel the emotion in the room. I can feel when I have struck a nerve or if someone isn't understanding my point. this however is something that I am having trouble with my copy writing. I guess since I'm not trying to sell me I can't tell if I'm on the right track or not.
Great tips keep them comming

See, another valuable lesson to be taken from cold calling.

Sheridan,

"Just write the thing" is probably the best approach to all of this. I often worry about whether or not something will sound right, or if people will just laugh at it. Too much wondering, not enough live tests. How many sales letters did it take fr you to feel comfortable? And what do you think would be the return on a "good" sales letter vs. a great one? Thanks again for all the ideas you're providing.

Aaron

Sheridan,

Thanks for all the great info. Looking forward to the exercise.

I have sold before and have done cold calling, just not in the same industry. I don't imagine selling childcare is anything like selling timeshares! LOL Great post.

Ooooh, I'm at a disadvantage here, Until recently I hadn't ever wanted to sell anything...as in Sales and Cold Calling. (Funny, I just wrote that as "clod" calling...now that would be me). I'm learning, but the curve is steep.

Great advice. Just start writing to put your brain cells in motion. Writing is re-writing.

Great stuff again! Thanks so much!

Jennifer, I think you have been selling, just have not realized it. Think about how many peoples wardrobes that you have influenced over the years. That was sales, you just did not always get paid for it.
